A take on canopy bedroom ideas…

Originally, the point of a canopy bed design was to conserve the warmth and offer an element of privacy. Historically, they were very ornate and the four poster bed frame had canopy fabric drape over the top.  Sometimes these were sheer curtains, sometimes with thicker hanging curtains. These days, we see a more contemporary take on the bed canopy with a modern bedroom. 

Often, you will see the structure of a modern canopy bed, but without the material draped over it. Often, in colder climates, having material draped over the canopy bed helps to keep the warmth, especially rooms with a high ceiling.

Creating your own modern canopy bed…

Have you considered making your own traditional canopy bed? A naopy frame is not as difficult as you would think. There are many instructional videos online to help you with this lovely bedroom furniture. 

You don’t need to overly complicate things by adding a decorative element. Some dark wood for the canopy frame is more than enough for the wooden frame (assuming you don’t want a metal canopy bed).  However, consider a lighter color scheme for unique canopy beds. A modern touch in a master bedroom is a great effect. For the decor, consider fairy lights (string lights), as an alternative to sheer fabric.
